It was dedicated to Brumby horses - a species of feral Australian horses that were once bred by humans and used for farm work, among other things. In the early years of the 19th century, there were numerous escapes of horses and deliberate releases by humans. Despite the harsh climatic conditions, Brumbies have done very well in the wild and their natural increase is today controlled by the authorities.
The reverse of the coin depicts an Australian Brumby horse galloping in shallow water. The mirrored image of the horse is set on a matte background, and at the top is the inscription Australian Brumby. On the obverse you will see the likeness of Queen Elizabeth II, specifically her right profile. The coin is the official legal tender of Australia and has a denomination of 1AUD.
