It was established on June 20, 1899, two years before Australia's federation in 1901 Together with the Royal Australian Mint - which produces the country's circulating coins - Perth Mint is the senior of two Australian mints issuing legal tender investment products. One of them is the Kokaburra silver coin, which debuted on the market in 1990. Its reverse changes every year, but it always depicts an Australian bird against a background of the flora of Oceania. The reverse of the 2022 coin depicts Kookaburra sitting on a stone pedestal, with Australian vegetation visible in the background. At the right edge of the reverse was the Kookaburra inscription applied in a new typeface. In turn, the left side shows the weight and sample of silver, as well as the year of issue. The coin's obverse remained unchanged from previous editions of the series - it features Queen Elizabeth II inverted in right profile.
