Australian Brumby is a coin series launched in 2020 from Perth Mint.
The 1 ozAustralian Brumby was minted in an edition of only 25,000 copies.
It was dedicated to Brumby horses - a species of feral Australian horses that were once bred by humans and used for farm work, among other things. In the early years of the 19th century, there were numerous escapes of horses and deliberate releases by humans. Despite the harsh climatic conditions, Brumbies have done very well in the wild and their natural increase is today controlled by the authorities.
The reverse of the coin depicts a Brumby horse galloping across the Australian prairie. At the upper edge of the coin is the name of the series - Australian Brumby, while at the bottom the technical parameters of the coin - the year of issue, weight and silver sample. The obverse is decorated with a bust of Queen Elizabeth II. As Australia's official legal tender, the currency carries a denomination of one dollar.
