Germany Mint Megafauna Silver Coin: Giant Deer 2026 Oblivion, 1 ounce

A silver coin finished with a colored lacquer that is visible under UV light .

The Megafauna series from Germania Mint takes us back to the distant past, when Europe and Asia were inhabited by mighty animal species that are no longer found in the wild today. One of them was the Giant Deer (Megaloceros giganteus), distinguished primarily by its impressive size and enormous, wide-spreading antlers. It is precisely this distinctive silhouette that inspired the next release in the series—the 2026 Republic of Liberia Megafauna: Giant Deer Oblivion 20 Dollars 1 oz Silver BU.

The obverse depicts the giant deer against a prehistoric landscape. The animal is traversing a forested setting, and its massive antlers—the most prominent element of the composition—immediately catch the eye. The dynamic depiction of the silhouette emphasizes the strength and massiveness of this extinct species, while also giving the image a sense of movement. The deer’s silhouette is coated with a colored lacquer that reveals its colors when exposed to UV light. The reverse side features the design style characteristic of Germania Mint. In the center is the skull of a Giant Deer with sprawling antlers and a distinct hoofprint. Surrounding the main motif are tracks belonging to other prehistoric animals featured in subsequent installments of the Megafauna series. In this way, the individual issues come together to form a cohesive narrative about a world that long ago vanished from the face of the Earth.
