The year 2021 marks the 20th round anniversary commemorating the deadliest terrorist attack in U.S. history. The attacks were carried out by the organized terrorist group Al-Qa'ida first thing in the morning on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. The bombers commandeered passenger planes and then crashed them into buildings symbolizing the power of the United States. The planes were directed at the two World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon building. A total of 2,996 people were killed and more than 25,000 injured in the attack.
