The series of silver values is inspired, like the vast majority of coins from Australia, by the continent's rich fauna. The emu bird featured on the coin is the second-largest living bird in the world, reaching up to 2 meters in height. They have long legs and neck and short wings. Their feathers are usually brown or gray. They are found in the grasslands, savannas, deserts and forests of Australia. They are also found on some Australian islands.

On the reverse of the featured coin, we see an adult emu bird surrounded by three baby chicks. In the background we see a stretch of Australian dry steppe. At the very top we see the name of the series, while at the bottom we have the date of issue, as well as the weight of the coin and the silver content designation of .9999.
