Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) was one of the most important composers in the history of classical music. He was born in Bonn, Germany, and showed extraordinary musical talent from a young age. His oeuvre encompasses a variety of musical forms, such as symphonies, sonatas, string quartets and operas, with his best-known works being the Ninth Symphony and "For Eliza." Despite his progressive deafness, which began to develop in his mid-30s, he continued to compose, creating masterpieces full of emotion and depth. Beethoven played a key role in the transition from the Classical to Romantic era in music, leaving an indelible mark on the world's musical culture.

The reverse of the silver investment coin presents us with a silhouette of Beethoven conducting during one of his performances. In the background behind him we see depicted the interior of a spacious concert hall. At the bottom of the coin, a copy of the artist's signature is placed on his shoulder. On the obverse, as in the other coins in the series, we see a woman holding the coat of arms of Niue, in whose territory the coin is a full-fledged legal tender with a denomination of 2 NZD.
