The tiger, is the third animal in the Chinese traditional lunar calendar after the buffalo and mouse. It symbolizes the third year in each of the twelve-year cycles of the Chinese calendar. The series is an interesting alternative to a similar release from Perth Mint - although it is slightly less popular, it has a sizable fan base among collectors around the world.

The reverse of the presented silver bullion coin from the RAM Lunar series is decorated with an image of an Asian tiger treading on rocky ground. On the left side of the animal, the inscription Year of the Tiger, as well as the Chinese designation of the year of the tiger, along with the coin's weight and silver proof, is emblazoned. The distinctive obverse features an image of Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by a ring created from the twelve animals of the Chinese calendar. At the very top was a tiger as the animal symbolizing the current year.
