The Tudor Beasts: Seymour Unicorn 2024, 2 oz Silver Coin

Beasts of the Tudors is a series that replaced the incredibly popular Beasts of the Queen collection.

We present the fourth cover of the Beasts of the Tudors series relating to British heraldry. On each coin we see one of ten mythical creatures. On the presented coin we have a silhouette of the Unicorn of the Seymours. The unicorn refers to Jane Seymur's marriage to Henry VII, it was the king's third marriage. Her marriage to King Henry VIII took place on May 30, 1536, just days after the execution of his second wife, Anne Boleyn. Jane Seymour gave birth to King Henry's son, the future King Edward VI, who became the throne heir. Unfortunately, her reign was short-lived, as she died after giving birth to her son in October 1537.

On the reverse of the silver currency, we see a heraldic unicorn holding a shield of arms in front of it. Around him is the name of the currency, the date of issue, as well as the weight and an indication of the silver content. On the obverse, we are shown the left profile of the current King of the United Kingdom, Charles III, along with the coin's denomination of 2 British pounds.
