This year's coin is inspired by the four mythical guardians.
Presenting the latest edition of the series, it features four mythical Chinese guardians, known as Si Xiang. These figures play an important role in Chinese mythology and tradition, each symbolizing one of the four sides of the world and its corresponding element. The Blue Dragon of the East (Qinglong) is associated with the east and wood, the White Tiger (Baihu) protects the west and represents metal, the Red Phoenix (Zhuque) wields the south and the element of fire, and the Black Turtle (Xuanwu) symbolizes the north and water, often depicted as a combination of turtle and snake.
The reverse of the silver coin depicts all four guardians - Xuanwu is in the center, Baihu is seen above him, Zhuque is hovering in the air, and the Qinglong dragon is visible at the bottom. The obverse of the coin shows a portrait of King Charles III, the weight, the silver sample and the denomination. The mintage of the colored version of the coin was limited to 5,000 pieces, 4,000 classically capped, 1,000 in the coincard version.
