Double Pixiu, unlike most Perth Mint coins, does not refer to the country's natural wealth.

It was this type of valuables that the Pixiu - legendary Chinese creatures resembling lions with dragon heads - were said to have a taste for. The reverse of the coin depicts two Pixiu lions facing each other, standing on a mound made of Chinese coins. The design commands attention with its meticulous workmanship and richness of detail.
