In 2027, the Goat is the patron animal, occupying the eighth position in this cycle. In Chinese tradition, this animal symbolizes calmness, gentleness, empathy, and devotion to family. It is also associated with creativity, sensitivity, and the ability to maintain harmony in everyday life. The Goat is also associated with good fortune and prosperity, which is why its image has long been a feature of Chinese culture and art. The reverse depicts three goats set against a mountainous landscape. At the center of the composition is an adult female with a kid, while a third member of the species—an adult male goat—rests on a nearby rock. The lower part of the design features the “Lunar III” series designation, as well as the year of issue, 2027. The obverse features a portrait of King Charles III facing left. The outer ring contains the coin’s basic identification details, including the name of the issuing country, the face value in Australian dollars, and information on the weight and fineness of the silver. This issue continues the Perth Mint’s concept of featuring successive animals of the Chinese zodiac on coins with reverse designs that change annually.
