The series is dedicated to the region known as Germania - which is how the lands east of the Rhine and north of the Danube were once described. The collection alludes to a time when the lands were ruled by various clans that gave rise to today's European nations. Germania is depicted under the figure of a woman to symbolize strength, courage and dedication to the cause. This silver bullion coin was produced in a limited edition of 25,000 copies.

The coin's reverse depicts a female personification of Germania, proudly stepping ashore. The woman is accompanied by a two-headed eagle flying beside her - a symbol from Germanic mythology associated with Janus - the god of gates, bridges, passages and doors. Germania is armed with a sword and a shield. The obverse of the coin refers to Roman mythology and depicts the image of a two-headed eagle holding lightning bolts in its talons. Each head faces a different direction, symbolizing history and the future. The lightning bolts, in turn, are a symbol of strength and the ability to create and destroy.
