Chinese Myths: Four Guardians 2024 Lan Silver Coin,1 oz.
Presenting the continuation of the Chinese Myths and Legends seriesfrom Perth Mint.
This year's coin is inspired by the four mythical guardians.
Introducing the latest installment in the series, which features the four legendary guardians of Chinese mythology, known as Si Xiang. These mythical figures serve an important function in Chinese culture, with each symbolizing one of the four sides of the world and its corresponding element. The Blue Dragon of the East (Qinglong) is responsible for the east and the element of wood, the White Tiger (Baihu) protects the west, associated with metal, the Red Phoenix (Zhuque) guards the south, identified with fire, and the Black Turtle (Xuanwu) represents the north and the element of water, often appearing in conjunction with a snake.
The reverse of the coin features images of all four guards - Xuanwu is in the center, Baihu above him, Zhuque hovers in the air, and Qinglong appears at the bottom. The obverse shows a portrait of King Charles III, along with indications of weight, silver proof and denomination. The colored version of the coin has a limited issue of 5,000 pieces - 4,000 were placed in caps, and 1,000 were issued in a coincard version.
