The 10 Deutsche Mark coin from 1951–1974 was one of the most recognizable means of payment in post-war Germany. Issued by the Federal Republic of Germany, it was made of 0.625 silver, which meant it contained approximately 9.68 grams of pure metal. Its total weight was 15.5 g and its diameter was approximately 32.5 mm, which gave it a solid and prestigious appearance. For many years, this coin was commonly used in everyday cash transactions. Thanks to its silver composition and characteristic image of an eagle, it was often referred to as the "silver eagle." The obverse featured the German eagle and the name of the country, while the reverse contained the denomination and year of issue. Over the years, various commemorative versions were also issued, referring to important historical, cultural, and sporting events. These coins thus combined a circulation function with a commemorative role. After the introduction of the common euro currency, the German mark was withdrawn from use. Since then, the 10 DM coin has functioned exclusively as a collector's item. Currently, its value depends mainly on its condition, the rarity of the variant, and the current price of silver.
