Australia Zoo Silver Coin: Sumatran Elephant 2022, 1 oz.

The Sumatran Elephant investment coin was issued in a limited quantity of 25,000 pieces.

The silver coin is the third bullion in the Australia Zoo series. It was dedicated to the Sumatran Elephant, one of Asia's subspecies of elephants. This mammal is slightly smaller than its African cousin, but nevertheless remains among the planet's largest land animals. The Sumatran elephant is a critically endangered species. Both poaching and habitat loss have contributed to this. It is estimated that its range has now shrunk by about 95%, and there are no more than 2,800 individuals of the species left in the world, which could become definitively extinct within 30 years.

The reverse of this bullion coin shows a group of 4 adult Sumatran elephants facing the observer. Across their feet can be seen fragments of Sumatran vegetation, growing in the local grasslands. Above their heads is the name of the series and slightly below the name of the coin. On the left is the weight and silver sample. The obverse shows the right profile of Queen Elizabeth II, around the rim of the coin there is information regarding the country, date of issue and denomination - 1 Australian dollar.
