The coin is another release from the extremely popular Lunar III series. The Chinese Year of the Snake is one of the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac, which is part of the Chinese lunar calendar. The Snake in Chinese astrology is characterized by wisdom, intuition and mystery. Individuals born in the Year of the Snake are often considered astute, elegant, graceful and balanced, but can also be secretive and suspicious. Snakes in Chinese culture also symbolize transformation and regeneration, which alludes to the way snakes shed their skin.

On the reverse of this silver investment coin, we see a coiled snake sitting on the ground. Above it is the Chinese symbol denoting this creature, along with its English name and the year of issue. On the sides we can see a branch hanging from a tree with tiny leaves. The obverse features the left profile of the current ruler of Great Britain, King Charles III, along with the name of the issuer's country, the weight and sample of the silver, as well as the denomination expressed in Australian dollars.
