A silver coin with the image of one of the birds most associated with Australian fauna - the kookaburra. The kookaburra is a type of large bird from the kingfisher family, found mainly in Australia and Tasmania. The bird also has an important place in Australia's Aboriginal culture. In many Aboriginal myths and stories, the kookaburra is often depicted as a figure with powerful magical powers and supernatural abilities.
On the reverse, we are shown a pair of Australian kookaburras sitting on a branch. At the top is the name of the coin, while at the very bottom is the year of issue, with the weight of the coin and the sample of silver from which the coin was made placed around it. The obverse bears the right profile of Queen Elizabeth II, and below it can be seen the denomination, 1 Australian dollar, as the coin is a full-fledged means of payment in this country.
