Copper Draped Bust Dollar Medal, 1 oz.
Copper Draped Busd Dollar medal with a 999. and a weight of 1 ounce (AVPD).
An increasingly popular form of investment in precious metals in the form of a copper disc.
The Draped Bust Dollar is a silver U.S. coin minted between 1795 and 1804. On the obverse it depicts a bust of Lady Liberty with flowing hair, designed by Gilbert Stuart. The reverse shows an eagle, which between 1795 and 1797 was surrounded by a wreath and later replaced by a heraldic eagle modeled after the Great Seal of the United States. The coin was one of the first US dollar issues and is a rare numismatic treasure today. The rarest copies from 1804 are among the most expensive coins in the world.
The reverse of the copper medal shows us, as on the original coin. a bust of Lady Liberty (Personification of Liberty) with her hair disheveled, facing right. The design is attributed to Gilbert Stuart, a well-known portraitist, and was executed by Robert Scot, the first chief engraver of the United States Mint. Liberty wears a gently drooping robe (hence the name "Draped Bust"), with the inscription "LIBERTY" above her head. Along the edge are also the date of issue and 13 stars symbolizing the original 13 American colonies. The obverse presents the image we can find on the coin since 1798. it features a heraldic eagle, modeled after the Great Seal of the United States. The eagle with outspread wings holds an olive branch and arrows in its talons, which was meant to signify readiness for both peace and war. Above its head are 13 stars surrounded by clouds and the inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."
