The Los Coyotes Indian tribe, which inhabits the southwestern areas of the United States, is an important part of America's rich cultural mosaic. Their traditions and heritage run deep in the history of the region, associated with a desert landscape and respect for nature. Los Coyotes traditionally engaged in hunting, gathering and farming, and their community was based on cooperation and mutual respect. The language, rituals and ceremonies of this tribe are an integral part of their heritage.
On the reverse side of the coin, an American coyote is presented howling towards the moon along with another looking towards it. Above is engraved the inscription "LOS COYOTES" while below is "BAND OF INDIANS." The obverse of the copper medal depicts an American bobcat standing proudly on a stone boulder. From the obverse we can learn the bullion sample, date of issue and weight of the medal.
