The copper disc refers to one of the most important and influential Indian chiefs.

The cylinder introduces us to Chief Red Horse, also known as Red Cloud. He was born around 1822, in what is now the state of Wyoming and his real name was Mahpiya Luta in the Lakota language. Red Cloud headed his tribe during battles against settlers and American soldiers during the Red Hills Wars. His tactical skills and determined defense of the land earned him respect and recognition. Chief Red Horse's actions influenced the formation of relations between indigenous peoples and the US government, and the preservation of Lakota culture and heritage.

The reverse of the copper disc presents the figure of Chief Red Horse sitting on a horse. The chief holds a rifle in his hand and is clad in clothing characteristic of Indian tribes, of which a huge plume stands out. The obverse of the coin depicts an American Indian Tipi with a full moon rising from behind it. The lower part features an inscription that translates as "Pride, Strength, Courage."
