African Ounce is a popular coin collection established in 2008.

The African Ounce coin collection is inspired by the natural environment of Africa, focusing its releases on the animals that inhabit it. The protagonist of the next release in the series is the pelican - a bird characterized by a long baggy beak that makes it easy to swallow larger fish and excellent flying skills. In addition to its distinctive beak, the bird is distinguished by its large, broad wings and short, thick legs.

The reverse of the presented coin features two pelicans against the background of their natural habitat. The reverse is distinguished by a topographical outline of the continent of Africa, which is located on each installment of the series in the same place. Next to the birds we can read the engraved name of the AFRICAN OUNCE series and information on the coin's weight, silver sample and date of issue. The obverse of the coin is decorated with the national emblem of Rwana - the country for which the coin is official legal tender.
