The theme for the next edition of the Fish Series has become a fish of the scorpionfish genus "Pterois" called firefish because of the "fiery pain" its venom causes. These sea creatures of unique appearance are found in coral reef regions in tropical and subtropical seas. Fish of this kind are a common choice for keeping in aquariums. For humans, the sting of fireflies is very painful and sometimes even fatal.
The reverse of the presented bullion coin features a representative of fireflies with distinctive fan-shaped fins. Above the fish is the inscription HAKUHAKULELE, which in the Tokelau language means the species of fish. At the bottom of the reverse is engraved the inscription LIONFISH. The obverse of the coin depicts a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, below which is the national emblem of Tokelau, for which the coin is official legal tender.
