Germania Beasts: Sleipnir 2026 Geminus Silver Coin, 2x 1 ounce

A silver collector's coin issued by Germania Mint in a mintage of 500 pieces.

Sleipnir, the subject of Germania Mint’s latest series of silver coins, is one of the most fascinating creatures in Norse mythology. This legendary eight-legged horse was Odin’s faithful steed and was considered the fastest and most powerful steed in the world of the gods. Thanks to his extraordinary abilities, he traversed the earth, the sky, and the realm of the dead, freely crossing the boundaries between worlds. According to Norse lore, his mother was Loki, who took the form of a mare, and his father was the mighty stallion Svaðilfari. For centuries, Sleipnir has symbolized strength, courage, speed, and divine power, holding a special place in Norse legends.

The obverse of the coin depicts Sleipnir’s impressive head and the front part of his muscular form. The four visible legs emphasize the dynamism of his movement while conveying the strength and majesty of the legendary steed. The intricately crafted details and rich ornamentation lend the composition exceptional depth, highlighting the hero’s supernatural origins. The reverse depicts the rear of Sleipnir in full gallop. Four more legs complete the image of his distinctive eight-legged form, creating an effect of fluid motion and extraordinary speed. The design symbolizes Sleipnir’s ability to traverse different worlds, and the background is traditionally adorned with the Germania Mint’s hallmark—the double-headed eagle, which serves as the symbol of the brand and the entire series.
