Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle 2016, 1 oz Silver Coin

The coin is a continuation of a series started in 2014 by Perth Mint.

The Australian eagle is an impressive raptor found in Australia, New Guinea, Indonesia and nearby islands. It is a large bird of prey that holds an important place in Australian culture and symbolism. The bird is one of the largest birds of prey in Australia. It has a body length of between 75 and 85 centimeters, and its wingspan is typically between 1.8 and 2.2 meters. Considered one of Australia's national symbols. Its majestic appearance and strength have contributed to its presence on Australia's emblem, where it appears alongside the emu, as well as on various signs, coins and other symbolic items.

As with many coins from Perth Mint, the reverse of the currency changes annually. This edition shows us a proudly seated Australian eagle on a tree branch. In the rim, near the top edge, there is an inscription with the name of the series: the Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle, and below it the year of the coin's mintage, its weight and silver sample. The obverse of the coin, is standard for the Perth mint, an image of Queen Elizabeth II and the denomination - 1 Australian dollar.
