Lunar II is a continuation of a series of silver values referring to the Chinese calendar.

In the Chinese zodiac, each year is assigned to one of twelve animals: rat, bull, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. Each of these animals is assigned certain traits and attributes, and Chinese astrology predicts that the year of birth influences an individual's personality and fate. People born in the year of the rooster are often considered hardworking, responsible and disciplined. They are able to devote a lot of time and energy to achieving their goals. They are loyal to their friends, family and partners. They value lasting relationships and are willing to commit to maintaining them. They have a strong sense of ambition and often strive for success in their professional and personal lives.

The reverse of the silver coin shows us a rooster standing in the company of a hen and several chicks. At the very bottom the name of the currency is placed, slightly above the silhouette of the hen we can see the Chinese sign signifying the rooster. At the left edge of the coin there is a small letter P, the symbol of the manufacturer, the Perth Mint. The obverse shows the right profile of Queen Elizabeth II, along with information about the denomination, silver sample and weight.
