One of the most popular bullion coins recognized around the world.
The Britannia coin is a unique symbol of Britain's numismatic heritage, dating back to 1997. Although it was introduced into circulation relatively recently, its main motif, depicting the figure of Britannia as the embodiment of the spirit of the British Isles, has much older roots. As early as the reign of Charles II, this iconic image adorned British coins. The modern version of this coin combines tradition with modernity, as seen in the combination of the image of King Charles III with the historical Britannia motif.
Why invest in low-weight coins?
Fractional-size silver is increasingly popular. Profit-minded investors find it ideal for replenishing their metal stocks at little cost. Others expect that as silver prices rise, demand for smaller and more affordable coins and medals will increase. A smaller coin weight increases its potential usefulness as a means of payment in, for example, a crisis.
Britannia 1/4 ounce silver coin - obverse
The front side of the Britannia 1/4 oz silver coin features an image of Britain's ruler, King Charles II. The detailed bust, designed by Jody Clark, whose initials were placed on the lower part of the coin, stands out for its accuracy and deep detail, showing the majesty of the monarch.
Britannia 1/4 ounce silver coin - reverse
The back of the silver coin features the iconic figure of Britannia. Although the design of the reverse underwent various modifications until 2011, it has stabilized in its currently recognizable form since 2012. On it we see Britannia in a dynamically flowing dress and a distinctive Roman helmet with a plume. In one hand, the woman holds a trident, symbolizing her ties to the sea, while in the other hand she holds a shield with Britain's national colors and an olive branch - a symbol of peace. There are four special security features on the reverse of this coin. One of them is a specially grooved surface that, when properly illuminated, resembles sea waves. In addition, the lower left corner of the Britannia silver coin shows a small circle with a trident, which, depending on the angle of view, resembles a padlock, which emphasizes its authenticity. Surrounding the figure of a woman is the subtle inscription "DECUS ET TUTAMEN," which means "adornment and protection." Britannia's shield also has a unique texture. The reverse also features information on the silver content, year of issue and the name of the coin.
