Australian Box Jellyfish 2023, 1 oz Silver Coin

Sea Wasp is the heroine of the fourth installment of the series from Australian Royal Mint.

Presented on this silver bullion coin, the Sea Wasp is not only one of the most dangerous and deadly creatures in Australia, but also in the world. The sea wasp is a small jellyfish with a shape somewhat resembling abox , hence its English namebox jelly. Its body is equipped with up to 60 feelers reaching up to 3 meters in length. The amount of toxin contained in one individual is enough to kill 60 people. The venom contains a neurotoxin attacking mainly the nervous system and heart, and no antidote is known at present.

The reverse of the silver coin is decorated with an image of five sea wasps swimming in the water's depths. The attention is drawn to the dense network of their deadly tentacles. In the central part is the name of the coin AUSTRALIAN BOX JELLY. The weight of the coin, as well as the sample of silver from which it was made, is placed near the edge. The obverse of the coin is decorated with an image of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Jody Clark. Beneath it you will find the coin's denomination - 1 AUD, as it is legal tender in Australia.
