A unique 5 Peso silver coin issued only between 1947 and 1948.

The coin is one of the interesting pieces of Mexican history - the coin reflects important aspects of Mexican history and national identity. The silver disc is unique because of its hero - Cuauhtemoc, who was the last Aztec emperor. It was he who led the army in the heroic resistance against the Spanish conquerors led by Hernan Cortes. The coin on display symbolizes the spirit of resistance and national pride and uniquely reflects the Mexican character.

The coin, minted between 1947 and 1948, depicts the image of Emperor Cuauhtemoc wearing a traditional Aztec helmet, above which reads the coin's denomination of 5 Peso. The obverse, meanwhile, presents a bald eagle sitting on a cactus with a rattlesnake in its mouth. This is a scene seen by the early Aztecs, who felt they would build a great city on this site, known today as Mexico City.
