RAM Lunar Year of the Mouse 2020, 1 oz Silver Coin

The year of the mouse is the first, opening each successive cycle of the Chinese lunar calendar, which is divided into twelve-year cycles - each year symbolized by a different animal. This is a motif used quite often in modern numismatics. Although the series presented here is not the most popular with this theme, it has gained a loyal fan base, who often consider it nicer than the twin collection from Perth Mint.

Since the mouse is the opening animal of each twelve-year cycle, its image had to be on the first coin of the RAM Lunar series. The reverse of the coin depicts a mouse among leaves and fruit. The distinctive obverse of the coin is decorated with a circle composed of 12 animals - symbols of the lunar calendar. The mouse was placed at the top of the circle, and in the center of the circle was placed the image of Queen Elizabeth. As official legal tender, the currency carries the denomination of 1 Australian dollar.
