PRL Map/Olympics Silver Coin, 14.5 grams

Silver circulating historical coins are a combination of numismatics and precious metals investment.

Polish silver coins with a face value of 200 zlotys, popularly known as "Mapka" and "Olympiad," were minted between 1974 and 1980 and are among the most interesting issues of the communist era. The "Mapka" coin, issued in 1974, depicts a map of Poland with major rivers and cities marked, symbolizing the modernization of the country during the Gierek era. The "Olympics" series, on the other hand, commemorated the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, showcasing various sports and modern styling. Both coins were made of sterling silver, weighed 14,5 grams and had a diameter of 32 mm. Although they were legal tender, they never went into general circulation, and their role was primarily to promote the achievements of the People's Republic of Poland and interest collectors. Today, they are highly regarded among numismatists and are sought after for their original design and historical value.
