The series was launched in 2017 and has attracted considerable interest from investors and collectors.

The Czech Lion is the first Czech bullion coin dedicated to one of the country’s symbols. According to legend, shortly after ascending the throne, the Czech Prince Bruncvik set out on a journey during which he encountered a lion fighting a dragon. In exchange for helping to slay the dragon, the lion became a devoted servant to the Czech ruler. From that time on, the king of beasts never left the Czech ruler’s side.

This silver bullion coin was given a completely new design in 2020. The reverse is dominated by a majestically striding lion wearing a crown against the backdrop of a coat-of-arms shield. It has been reproduced with great attention to detail. The edge bears the inscription “Ceska Republika” along with the coin’s weight and silver fineness. The coin is issued as legal tender in Niue. Therefore, alongside the Czech symbol of the eagle on the obverse, the coin also features the denomination of 2 dollars and a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
