Panthera Tigris is a silver investment coin that is the official legal tender of the state of Laos.
Collectors will be interested in the low mintage of only 10,000 copies.
This silver bullion coin was dedicated to the Indochinese tiger - one of the most endangered animal species. Located in northern Laos, the Nam Et-Phou Louey Protected Area is one of the places where it can still be found in the wild. An excellent proportion of Indochinese tigers are now extinct or held in captivity in zoos.
The reverse of this bullion coin shows an image of an Indochinese tiger emerging from the jungle. The animal's head is shown in close-up, with its wide-open mouth revealing razor-sharp fangs. In the background we see the lush vegetation of the Asian jungle. On the left side is stamped the inscription "PANTHERA TIGRIS," and on the right side is the year of issue, weight and silver sample. On the reverse you will find the Central Bank of Laos building placed in the center. The denomination - 500 KIP - was placed underneath.
