TheAmerican Silver Eagle is ranked among the five most popular bullion coins in the world.
It is issued by the U.S. Mint in annual mintage of up to 40 million pieces. The coin reflects traditional American values of religion and freedom. An interesting fact is that the coin is struck using a so-called “reverse die,” which means that the reverse is rotated 180 degrees relative to the obverse.
The American Eagle features a very interesting design—on the obverse, there is a woman who personifies liberty; she is adorned with the American flag and holds olive branches, a symbol of peace, in her hand. Next to the figure is the inscription “In God We Trust,” traditional to the U.S. monetary system, and below it is the year of issue. The reverse of the coin depicts an eagle holding a ribbon in its beak with the Latin inscription “Out of Many, One,” which refers to U.S. history. Below the image of the eagle are the weight and the coin’s face value—1 USD.
NOTE: This is a bullion product distributed by the manufacturer in original mint tubes—coins may have imperfections resulting from shipping in the tube. The coins may show signs of patina. The coins were minted between 1986 and 1991 and are shipped at random. It is not possible to select a specific year of issue.
