Nautical Ounce: Great Eastern 2023, 1 oz Silver Coin

The latest edition of the Nautical Ounce series is inspired by an innovative ship from the 19th century period.

The SS Great Eastern is one of the most impressive designs of the 19th century. Built by British engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the ship was admired for its enormous size and innovative technical solutions. The ship was launched in 1858. Its size was so impressive that for many years it remained the largest ship in the world. Great Eastern was able to accommodate more than 4,000 people, and was also designed to carry goods between Britain and India. With its double hull and telegraph system, it was one of the most technically advanced ships of its era.

The reverse of the bullion coin shows the mighty steam ship SS Great Eastern crossing the ocean. Below the ship, the name of the coin "Great Eastern" is engraved, next to which we will read information about the weight, bullion sample and date of issue of the coin. In addition to the ship, we will notice many symbols related to the navy such as the wind rose. The obverse features the national coat of arms of the state of Rwanda, for which the coin is the official means of payment.
