The 2-mark coin from the Third Reich period, minted between 1936 and 1939, is one of the more recognizable and historically significant numismatic pieces of pre-war Europe. Made of sterling silver, this coin weighed 8 grams and had a diameter of 25 mm. It was issued by the German Reich (Deutsches Reich) as part of the official monetary circulation.

The obverse of the coin depicts a portrait of Paul von Hindenburg - the Marshal and later President of Germany, who played a key role in the politics of the interwar period. Above or around the portrait is the inscription "Paul von Hindenburg" and the years of his life (1847-1934). The reverse, on the other hand, shows a German eagle holding in its talons a swastika - the official emblem of the Third Reich during Nazi rule. Above the eagle is the inscription "Deutsches Reich," and below it is the denomination and year of issue.
