Silver coin weighing 23.32 grams struck in .800 sterling silver

The Canadian $1 coin, minted from .800 sterling silver, was introduced into circulation in the 20th century mainly as a high-value circulation coin. Its weight was about 23.3 grams, of which more than 18 grams was pure silver. The obverse bore the image of the reigning British monarch, and the reverse often featured a motif with canoeists and a sailboat against a forest background, one of the most recognizable symbols of the issue. These coins were prized both in daily circulation and among collectors. Due to their silver content, they quickly became hoarded and appeared less frequently in payment. Today they are an attractive collector and investment item, combining historical and bullion value.

The presented coin is a circulating coin and may have minor signs of use in the form of scratches, discoloration or abrasions. Review photos - the sent coin may have a different vintage and different state of preservation. Coins are sent randomly, depending on the vintage they differ in the image of the reverse.
