Icons of Inspiration: Galileo 2021, 1 oz Silver Coin
Galileo opens the Icons of Inspiration series of silver bullion coins.
The series was dedicated to figures whose achievements in various fields had a significant impact on the history of the world.
Certainly such personalities include Galileo Galilei - an outstanding Italian astronomer and physicist, whose numerous discoveries had a significant impact on the development of science. Galileo was able to oppose the prevailing views and beliefs of his time by which he was repeatedly and widely criticized. The scientist was a proponent of the heliocentric theory, which caused the negative attitude of the Church of that time towards his person.
The first edition of the Icons of Inspiration series is decorated with an image of a thoughtful scientist holding a telescope in his hand. Galileo is accompanied by an image of the moon and a globe. On the back of the coin you will find the coat of arms of the Republic of Niue, where the coins are official legal tender worth NZD 5. An important aspect of this series is the low mintage of only 10,000 copies.
