Egyptian Gods: Osiris 2023, 1 oz Silver Coin

The silver bullion coin is another item in the Egyptian Gods series referring to Egyptian mythology. The coin introduces us to the figure of the god of death and reborn life - Osiris. Called the Great Judge of the Dead, he was the son of the goddess Nut and the god Geb, and his wife was the fertility goddess Isis. Legend has it that Osiris was killed by his brother Seth, who tore his body into 14 parts except for his penis. Isis resurrected her spouse, but without the penis he could live only in the hereafter - there he became ruler of the underworld and judge of the dead.

The reverse of the bullion coin is decorated with an image of Osiris depicted against a background of Egyptian hieroglyphs. The figure is dressed in characteristic ornate robes, holding a shepherd's staff in one hand and a flail in the other. The obverse of the coin presents the national emblem of the state of Sierra Leone depicting two lions supporting a shield of arms surrounded by palm trees.
