The Chinese Year of the Dragon, one of the twelve animal signs in the Chinese zodiac, is widely regarded as a time full of energy, enthusiasm and great opportunities. People born in the Year of the Dragon are often seen as dynamic, charismatic and full of vigor. The dragon is considered a very powerful and lucky sign, symbolizing strength, health, harmony and happiness. Dragons play an important role in many festivals, and traditional dragon dances are common during Chinese New Year celebrations. Dragons were believed to bring rain, which is essential for agriculture, and were therefore revered as guardians and symbols of prosperity.

On the reverse of the silver investment coin, we see the silhouette of a blue dragon hovering in the air. To the lego's right we see the traditional flaming pearl, a symbol long associated with China. Slightly below is the Chinese symbol of the year of the dragon and the inscription DRAGON 2024, as well as the mint mark P125 symbolizing the 125th anniversary of the Perth Mint. The obverse of the coin is decorated with a classic portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, along with the denomination, bullion proof and weight.
