The Coronation Britannia 2023, 1 oz Silver Coin

The silver coin was issued on the occasion of the coronation of King Charles III.

Presenting a limited edition of the popular bullion coin, Britannia. The coin was issued to commemorate the coronation of Charles III as King of the United Kingdom. The coronation ceremony took place in Westminster Abbey, as did the coronation of the previous ruler, the late Queen Elizabeth II. The limited edition version differs from the bullion one in its altered obverse image and limited mintage to 300,000 pieces.

The coin's reverse features an image of Britannia, a woman who is the personification of British lands. The woman holds a shield in her left hand, on which the flag of Great Britain can be seen, and in her right hand she holds a trident, associated with power over the sea abysses. On the obverse of the coin we see the profile of the current ruler of the United Kingdom, King Charles III; unlike the usual Britannia, his head is adorned with a majestic crown, one of the royal insignia.
