World‘s Wildlife: The Ray 2023, 1 oz Silver Coin

The Republic of Congo 's World's Wildlife series is attracting growing interest from investors.

On the next installment of the series, an oceanic manta ray is shown. It is a large-sized stingray whose body reaches a span of up to several meters. These fish are found in tropical and subtropical waters around the world, and feed on plankton and smaller aquatic organisms. Mantas are known for their peaceful nature and gentle approach to humans, which has made them popular tourist objects in areas where they can be found. These fish are considered edible fish in some cuisines. Unfortunately, they are threatened with extinction mainly due to overfishing and habitat loss.

The reverse of the silver cylinder depicts a stingray leaping above the water's surface. This is a characteristic behavior of these animals. They can leap above the surface even to a height of 1.5 meters, as they then plunge momentarily into the water's depths. At the top you can see two flying gulls, while in the background is a fragment of a coastal rock. The obverse shows the emblem of the Republic of Congo along with the date of issue of the coin, the denomination, as well as the weight and the silver sample.
