Mother and Baby: Kangaroo 2023, 2 oz Silver Coin

This year's edition features a generation of animals intrinsic to the Australian landscape and culture. The coin was dedicated to the Australian Kangaroo. It is a species endemic to Australia well known for its distinctive way of moving, namely jumping on its hind legs with tremendous speed and agility. Australian kangaroos are among the largest mammals that live on Earth. Males can reach a weight of more than 90 kg, while females usually weigh less, around 30-40 kg. They have strong legs, long tails and distinctive ears that allow them to effectively pick up sounds from their surroundings.

On the reverse of the silver coin we see a pair of kangaroos, a mother together with her baby. In the background you can see a stretch of the dry Australian steppe. The background is made up of straight lines diverging from the center, characteristic of the coins of the series. The obverse shows the right profile of Queen Elizabeth II. At the top is the range of 1952 - 2022, indicating the years she has been in power. The bottom shows the denomination, the proof, and the coin's weight of 2 troy ounces.
