The silver cylinder is inspired by the history of the United States and its indigenous peoples.

The coin makes a direct reference to the Sioux. This was one of the Indian tribes from North America, originally inhabiting the Great Plains area in the US and Canada. The name "Sioux" is of French origin and means "knot" or "circle." The Sioux were traditional hunters, living by hunting buffalo and other animals. Sioux culture and religion were strongly connected to nature and included a reverence for earth, water, air and fire. Conflicts with colonizers, particularly the United States Army, played an important role in Sioux history. As a result of the wars and forced relocations, the Sioux population was significantly reduced. Today, the Sioux are present in the US and Canada, and their culture, traditions and art are appreciated around the world.

The reverse of this investment coin shows two Sioux cruising down a river in a traditional Indian boat, a canoe. Behind them, a section of the mountainous rocky landscape can be seen along with a waterfall. The border at the top bears the name SIOUX. At the bottom are the denomination, the date of issue, as well as the silver sample. The obverse depicts two dueling American buffalo. Above them are placed in a row of 8 tipi tents, and at the very top is the inscription SOVEREIGN NATION.
