The 2025 World Road Cycling Championships will be held from September 21-28 in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. This event will go down in history as the first championship organized on the African continent. The routes prepared by the organizers are among the toughest in the history of the event - the men's elite riders will face the challenge of covering 267.5 kilometers and more than 5,400 meters of elevation gain, and one of the most spectacular sections will be the famous cobbled Wall du Kigali. The competition will be further complicated by altitude, as the city is located at nearly 1,850 meters above sea level. The championship program will include an individual time trial, a mixed team relay and a mass start race. The women's elite will face a 164.6-kilometer route, while the men will once again face a challenging 267.5-kilometer distance. The organization of this prestigious event in Rwanda is a milestone for the promotion of cycling and a clear signal of Africa's growing importance on the sports map of the world.

The reverse of the silver coin commemorating the championship features a cycling scene with two riders leading the peloton, embodying strength, perseverance and competitive spirit. To the right, fans gathered along the route are shown, capturing the lively atmosphere and hospitality of the people of Rwanda. The rim features the name of the series, the year of issue and technical parameters such as the silver sample and weight, making the coin a unique numismatic piece. The lower part of the reverse is decorated with an additional inscription with the name of the ship, introducing an interesting symbolic element. The obverse of the coin displays Rwanda's national coat of arms, emphasizing its official status as legal tender. The 50 Rwandan franc issue combines collector value with utilitarian function, making the coin attractive to numismatists and sports enthusiasts alike.
