The coin is an interesting addition to the collection of silver investment coins.

The Franklin half-dollar is a coin minted by the United States Mint between 1948 and 1963. The 50-cent coin depicts Founding Father Benjamin Franklin on the reverse and the Liberty Bell on the obverse. Produced in 90 percent silver, the coin was minted at mints in Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco. Mint director Nellie Tayloe Ross had long admired Franklin and wanted him to be depicted on the coin. In 1947, she instructed her chief engraver, John R. Sinnock, to prepare designs for Franklin's half-dollar. Sinnock's designs were based on his earlier work, but he died before completing them. The coin's image was completed by Sinnock's successor, Gilroy Roberts.

On the reverse of the silver coin we see the figure of the Founding Father, Benjamin Franklin. At the very top is the inscription LIBERTY, while at the bottom is the maxim IN GOD WE TRUST. The obverse features a liberty bell with a small eagle on the right side, in order to meet the legal requirement that half-dollars had to depict the silhouette of an eagle.

The presented photo is illustrative. The coin is a circulation coin, with minor scratches, scuffs and dings. No specific vintage available.
