Bjorn Ironside was a legendary Viking warrior and chieftain who lived in the 9th century. He was believed to be the son of the famous Ragnar Lodbrok and his wife Aslaug. According to the Norse sagas, Bjorn was a fearless sailor and conqueror who led plunder expeditions to France, Spain and even Italy. He was known for his cunning - he was said to have conquered Rome by faking his own death, only to later attack the city by surprise. The Vikings under his command were a dangerous force in Western Europe. Although it is difficult to separate facts from legends, Bjorn Ironside has gone down in history as a symbol of Viking strength and courage.
