Its distinctive feature is a small mintage of only 10,000 pieces!
The theme of the series is prehistoric life on planet Earth. Starting in 2020, the series introduces us to the silhouettes of various creatures that once inhabited the world. The presented silver coin is already the fifth issue of the Prehistoric Life series - it was dedicated to archaeopteryxes - creatures that are considered by some scientists to be the first birds.
On the reverse of the presented coin you will find an image of an archeopteryx - a creature that resembled in appearance a bird the size of today's raven. It is depicted on a tree branch, with its wings spread wide. In the background can be seen a forest and mountainous landscape of the then Earth. The reverse also contains information about the period in which archaeopteryxes lived on the planet. The obverse of the coin is decorated with the distinctive national coat of arms of the Republic of Congo. As the country's legal tender, the coin carries a denomination of 20 francs.
