The Queen's Beasts is a series of coins launched to commemorate the 65th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation in 2018. The first coin from the collection was premiered in early 2016 - since then, 2 more coins from the collection have been issued each year. The series is inspired by the heraldry of British families associated with the British throne.
The reverse of the silver coin depicts the silhouette of the Lion of England. This national symbol has deep historical roots and reflects strength and courage. It appears in various forms on banners and symbols, and its association with England dates back to the Middle Ages. The lion has also become a popular motif in art, culture and sports emblems of England, being a sign of national pride and unity. The obverse features the figure of Queen Elizabeth II and the coin's denomination - 5 British pounds (GBP).
