The James Bond films of the 1980s were primarily a continuation of the series, starring Roger Moore and later Timothy Dalton. Moore starred in two films: For Your Eyes Only (1981) and Octopussy (1983), while Lethal View (1985) was his last appearance as Bond. These films maintained the series' typical balance of sensational action, gadgetry and humorous elements. Timothy Dalton introduced a more serious tone in the films Facing Death (1987) and License to Kill (1989), bringing the Bond character closer to the original character from Ian Fleming's novel. The 1980s saw a transition in the style and tone of the series, from Moore's more entertaining portrayal to Dalton's darker and more realistic Bond.

It features the Bede BD-5J "Acrostar" aircraft, which played a key role in one of the most memorable opening scenes of the aforementioned film. In this sequence, Agent 007, played by Roger Moore, escapes from a military base by piloting an extremely small and agile and fast jet. On the obverse of the silver coin, we see a portrait of Britain's King Charles III, along with a denomination of 2 British pounds.
